Candidate's Platform We asked: What are the two most prominent issues facing the Newmarket-Aurora riding and what are your solutions? After knocking on thousands of doors, the two most important issues I am hearing about are the economy and the environment. The residents of Newmarket and Aurora are concerned about the struggling economy. Many have been impacted by losing their jobs. They are concerned about where the Conservative Party is taking our country. Surpluses have become deficits, jobs have been lost. And in light of all this, our finance minister told the world the last place they should invest in is Ontario. I will stand up for Newmarket-Aurora and for Ontario’s jobs. We in Ontario need a progressive plan that will create more jobs jobs in innovative fields. It is where the global economy is heading. The Green Shift will cut taxes on the things we want more of, like income, investment and innovation, thereby creating thousands of new jobs. It will shift taxes to the things we want less of, like pollution. The Green Shift has been praised by economists as a first step in the right direction. Newmarket-Aurora deserves a Member of Parliament that will stand up for them and I am the only candidate that has a record of doing so.
