Mr. Andy Arifin
Riding: Oak Ridges-Markham
A longtime resident of Markham, politics is very much part of Mr Arifin's everyday life, both academically and practically. He just graduated cum laude from York University with an honours degree in political science and also has practical experience, as a candidate in Markham-Unionville for the 2007 provincial election. As a young candidate, his aim is to demonstrate that politics matters to everybody, including young people. He hopes his candidacy will make youth feel more comfortable engaging in the political process. Mr. Arifin is proud to represent the NDP, saying that it is the only party focussing on important issues in Parliament, such as student debt, the war in Afghanistan and global warming.
