Vicki Gunn stood as CHP candidate in York-Simcoe during the 2004 and 2006 Canadian federal elections. She is concerned over the gradual decline in our right to speak and believe freely without interference by government and non-governmental organisations. She believes the source of our freedom is our heritage, the Judeo-Christian tradition. As we've moved away from this foundation, we've found limits to the freedom we once enjoyed, she says. "If you've ever almost said something, stopped and decided not to say it because someone might hear and charge you with some form of human rights violation, then you've discovered you are no longer free to express yourself," she said. "This is different from internal restraints which stop us from saying something because it may hurt another person." She has lived in the Newmarket area since 1969 and has been a resident of Sharon since marrying husband Stan in 1978. They have one teenaged daughter.
