| Richmond Hill has also been Liberal for some time, with MP Bryon Wilfert beating former local councillor Joe DiPaola by more than 10,000 votes last time out. After 11 years in Ottawa, Mr. Wilfert has remained involved in his community, speaking in the House on matters such as the fate of the Dunlap Observatory.p> Conservative candidate Chunseng Leung will appeal to the large and growing local Asian constituency. Traditionally, it is the Grits who are regarded as the pro-immigration party, but Mr. Leung wants to show his party is the one that can do best by newcomers to Canada. A multi-lingual entrepreneur, he has contacts in the burgeoning local business community and has been out at local events, including the Queen’s Park rally to save the Dunlap Observatory. If he hopes to unseat Mr. Wilfert, Mr. Leung will likely have to count on riding a widespread wave of support for the prime minister (or at least a wave of antipathy towards Stphane Dion).
