You can recycle election signs in East Gwillimbury Saturday.
On your lawn today, gone tomorrow. The Regional Municipality of York is offering a free one-day election sign recycling drop-off Saturday in an effort to divert waste from landfill. Over the past two years, York Region has diverted nearly seven tonnes of election signs from landfill through this special recycling program. Candidates and campaign team members are invited to drop off corrugated plastic election signs at York Region’s Waste Management Centre from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The centre is at 100 Garfield Wright Boulevard in the Town of East Gwillimbury. All signs being delivered must have fasteners, wood or metal stakes and wires removed prior to drop-off. Signs with any remaining wood or metal attached will not be accepted. Plastic film election signs will not be accepted. York Region asks that campaign offices do not drop off any other recyclable materials, such as fine paper, with the election signs.
