| The bottles of Niagara region wine remain on ice and the numerous platters of food were sealed at Conservative candidate Chungsen Leung’s campaign office, as he and his supporters eagerly awaited poll results to pour in as polls closed. But, if the spread laid out by Mr. Leung is any indication, he is gearing up for quite the victory party. According to Mr. Leung’s campaign staff member Donald Kaye, the reports of voter turnout on the whole are encouraging, not to mention the number of Chinese-Canadian voters visiting polling stations around town. “That’s just the way it goes. Chungsen is a well known and respected man in Richmond Hill’s Chinese community and we hope that the word has got out to Richmond Hill’s many other ethnic communities,” Mr. Kaye said. As for now, amidst all the pacing and patient waiting, Mr. Leung appears to be playing things cool. “We have done everything we can and my team of volunteers should celebrate no matter what the outcome tonight,” Mr. Leung said from his campaign office. “If we win, I will stay here and celebrate not only my victory, but what I hope are many Conservative victories across the nation,” he added. And in a sign of sportsmanship, Mr. Leung said if he does lose the race for the Richmond Hill riding, he has every intention to tip his hat to the victor on a job well done and personally pay the Bryon Wilfert Liberal team a visit.
