| What has recently been a safe Liberal seat was too close to call as results showed the Conservative and Liberal candidates running neck-and-neck in Oak RidgesMarkham. With 151 of 364 polls reporting, Liberal incumbent Lui Temelkovski held a slight lead over Conservative challenger Paul Calandra, 12,404 votes to Mr. Calandra’s 11.948. In percentage terms it is about 42.7 per cent for Mr. Temelkovski, 41.1 for Mr. Calandra. At around 10:30 p.m., Mr. Calandra had led by about 100 votes. The sprawling riding takes in Whitchurch-Stouffville as well as parts of Markham, Richmond Hill and King. The NDP candidate, Andy Arifin, had about 9.5 per cent of the vote. The Green Party’s Richard Taylor garnered about 6.7. |
